HOSPITAL MINISTRY

Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the parish in Braamfontein, is responsible for visiting the sick and bringing communion to the following hospitals, and old age care homes:

NETCARE MILPARK HOSPITAL

THE WITS DONALD GORDON MEDICAL CENTRE

NETCARE REHABILITATION HOSPITAL

THE PARK CARE CENTRE

THE GERMAN OLD AGE HOME

Parishioners, or any Catholics, who are admitted to the hospital should contact the Parish Office at parish@trinityjhb.co.za or +27 (11) 339-2826 and advise us of the patient’s name, and ward and bed number so that we can bring Holy Communion to them on Sunday. Owing to recent Privacy Legislation, the Hospitals are not in a position to provide our Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion with lists of Catholics admitted to Hospital. We need to visit during visiting hours and be able to supply the Nurse-in-Charge with the individual patient’s particulars in order to gain access. If possible, please contact the Parish Office before 1pm on the Friday preceding the Sunday in order to allow us to ensure enough Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are available.

In the case of the Sacraments of Healing, the Annointing of the Sick and Viaticum, please also contact the Parish Office as needed and a priest will endeavour to visit. Again, the hospital, ward and bed number and the patient’s full name should be provided so that the priests can gain access to the patient.
