Parish Notices for the Twenty-Eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year C

Congratulations to our Confirmands!

We joyfully congratulate our newly confirmed parishioners who received the Sacrament of Confirmation yesterday by His Eminence, Stephen Cardinal Brislin. May the Holy Spirit continue to guide and strengthen them in faith, empowering them to live as true witnesses of Christ in the world. Let us continue to keep them in our prayers as they grow in their commitment to the Church and to living out their Christian vocation.

Cash Collection

We have a request from the bank: Please, can we try NOT to FOLD cash notes as small and tight as possible because it is very difficult for the counting machines to process them, with many creases—thank you!

Research Feedback on Holy Trinity

Three researchers (from WITS and UJ) have been working on a research project since 2023 that focuses on two local churches in Johannesburg, and one of them is Holy Trinity. The project aims to understand how selected churches in the broader Johannesburg area, as well as people who belong to and make up these churches, understand their role in society. In particular, it is interested in the ‘revolutionary’ or ‘liberative’ theologies that people in these churches practice both in church and in their everyday life. The interest in this topic is sparked by the history of liberation theologies in South Africa and the research team’s interest in getting a sense of what current, socially engaged Christianity might look like. The intention is that the findings of this research can also inform how theology is taught in South Africa. The research team would like to share the feedback that emerged from the study – and find out what you make of it! Please come along and hear about their findings on Sunday, 19 October 2025, at 11h00 after the 09h30 Mass.
