The Pope’s Prayer Intention for August:
We pray with Pope Francis that political leaders be at the service of their own people, working for integral human development and the common good, taking caring of those who have lost their jobs and giving priority to the poorest.
Student Confirmation Class
The next Confirmation Class for University students will be on Sunday, 11th of August at 14h00. This week’s topic is “What does it mean to live a good life? 10 commandments and moral theology ”
Morning Prayer
There will be no morning prayer next Sunday—11th August, with the Schola taking a recess of one weekend. The normal Sunday music schedule resumes on the Solemnity of the Assumption, 18th August.
Mass Intentions
You can contact the office for Mass intentions. A suggested donation is R50 per Mass. The Mass intentions will be published so that people know which intention or who the Mass is being celebrated for.
A Child Born for Us
A book written by Fr. David Neuhaus SJ titled “A child born for us” – reading the infancy Gospel backwards from the beginning is available for R120 in the parish office. Fr David will be here between the 07h30 and 09h30 Masses next weekend – 18 August – to sign copies of the book.
Talk on the Vatican Observatory
Next Sunday, 18 August, Fr Jean-Baptiste Kikwaya SJ from the Vatican observatory will give a talk on the mission of the observatory after the 09h30 Mass at 11h00. Fr Jean-Baptiste also has a meteorite named after him. He is visiting South Africa from Rome.
Running on empty? Escape the ordinary… renew and recharge
Calm, heal, live… a mindfulness retreat offered by the Jesuit Institute and led by Fr Russell Pollitt SJ and Gillian Hugo will take place at Origins retreat centre from 31 August -2 September 2024. All are welcome. You can find out more and register by contacting retreats@jesuitinstitute.org.za
Annual Leadership Conference 2024
All leaders are invited to attend the Annual Leadership Conference hosted by the Department of Evangelisation in the Archdiocese of Johannesburg. The Conference will be on Saturday 19th October from 08h00 till 16h00 at Holy Family College in Parktown. Cost per person is R100. Those interested to attend, please email the parish and you will be registered.
