Help us organise our annual Christmas Lunch for the Homeless
Good day everyone,
It’s that time of the year again when we start planning a great event in our Parish calendar – our Homeless Christmas lunch. The Christmas lunch for this year will be held on the 9th of December we’re calling on parishioners who would wish to host a table to come forward.
This is effectively how it works:
- A typical table that you would sponsor roughly sits about 8 people;
- The guideline menu is:
- a starter (cold meats, salads/veg etc.
- A main course (cooked chicken pieces with rice, vegetables).
- Desert (ice-cream, biscuits etc.)
- Cold drinks (coke is the most popular)
- For those hosting a table please bring your own table cloth, decorations for the table, sweets etc.
- There’s lots and lots of people to feed – so we would in addition also need donations of COOKED chicken pieces, cooked vegetables, ice cream, cans of cold drinks, chocolates and gifts to be delivered on the day
- Then we would equally need volunteers to help with crowd control, serving, packing food, distributing food and cleaning up etc.
- The gifts we’re targeting must only be what homeless people need most – NO MONEY, ALCOHOL, CIGARETTES, ANYTHING IN GLASS ETC. Gifts should be the same as it often causes huge problems if tables give different gifts!! Gifts should be wrapped or in some plain brown bags.
- Please bear in mind that there are NO cooking facilities or warming facilities at the lunch itself.
Points to emphasize
