Vacancy: Lay University Chaplain

Trinity House Catholic Chaplaincy and Residence (Trinity House) at Holy Trinity Catholic Church (Holy Trinity) in Braamfontein, Johannesburg seeks to appoint a Lay University Chaplain (Chaplain).

 

The Chaplain will be the only full-time, dedicated, paid member of staff and is responsible for all the activity, pastoral and spiritual ministry of the University Chaplaincy.  The Chaplain reports directly to the Director of Chaplaincy, who is the priest-in-charge of Holy Trinity.  In addition, the Chaplain will be required to report, in person or in writing, to the board of Trinity House.

The Chaplain’s primary remit will be to develop and sustain the Chaplaincy programme, the student liturgy and the spiritual and pastoral care of the university community it serves at both the Universities of Witwatersrand and Johannesburg.

The starting date for this position is flexible and will be discussed at the interview.  However, we would hope that the successful candidate would be available to start within a month of appointment, and, if possible, sooner.

The salary is commensurate with experience, qualifications and training.
