AfricaX Trailrun UPDATE

Sunday was Laetare or Rejoice Sunday and there were many reasons to “Rejoice”! We are mid-way through Lent and for an additional reason to rejoice, I’m pleased to tell you that Fr Russell completed the AfricaX Trail Run on Sunday. Although he was tired and sore he was in great spirits and pleased with his results and we at Holy Trinity are very proud of him.

We are all grateful to him for the effort he made in helping us to raise funds for our Share the Load commitments to the Diocese. Over the past few weeks we have all made a huge effort to raise sponsorship and donations and many of you came forward with generous pledges and contributions and to date we are sitting at around R85000.00, which is still short of our goal of R100 000.00 – about R1000.00 per kilometer he ran.

I am now asking those who made pledges to please deposit these amounts into the parish bank account and clearly mark these deposits “AfricaX”. For those who may not have pledged your support yet, it is not too late and we will happily accept your contributions. Let’s push for the R100 000.00 we set our sights on.

We will keep you informed of how the collections are going but in the mean time we would like to thank all who have so generously contributed. We were all moved by the number of cash donations we received after Masses from parishioners who we knew could barely afford it. Every amount counts and we are very grateful to you all. Thank you!
