AfricaX Trailrun UPDATE

ONE WEEK TO GO before the AfricaX Challenge begins in the Western Cape! The race begins on Friday 16th March but there is a pre-race briefing on Thursday 15th March in Kleinmond. A total of R62,300.00 has now been pledged from Parishioners and friends of Holy Trinity. I am still hoping that we will still reach a total of R100,000.00. If you have not pledged we ask that you seriously consider making a contribution – please support the Parish and the local Church and remember that every little bit counts!

If you don’t want to make a p/km pledge you can also make a once off contribution and in so doing help us reach our target. There are many people who have been generous in their pledge and contributions – some from outside the Parish! One parishioner has also, very kindly, donated gear for the race. Thank you!

There are, however, many people in the Parish who have not made a contribution at all. We appeal to you to consider making some sort of contribution no matter how small! It has been amazing to see how many students have, from the little they have, made a pledge or small contribution. R50 can seem like such a lot of money to give to the Church and yet it is such a little when we are out at a pub or restaurant. Get involved in your Parish community by pledging your support for the Parish and the local Church!  To those who have not got involved and consider themselves part of the Parish Community: please give some thought to making a contribution to Holy Trinity. The willingness to get involved is also an indication of your commitment to the Parish.

On Saturday I ran the Sunrise Monster 32kms in Pretoria. “Monster” was pretty much the right word to capture the race. We ran up the Waterkloof/Klapperkop/Unisa hills about 3 times in all during the 32kms! It was good preparation and I was happy to run with a good crew. This week I will continue with the normal early morning training – I notice that sunrise is now much later and the morning temperature is dropping!  Next weekend I will attempt another longer run – the last before AfricaX.

Please note that monies need not be paid before the trail. When you do make payment please deposit the money into the Parish bank account (Standard Bank Braamfontein: 004805 Acc Name: Holy Trinity Catholic Church Acc Number: 002294192) AND MARK IT CLEARLY “AfricaX”.

A big thank you to all of you who have responded – and still will respond – so generously to this fundraising attempt at Holy Trinity.

Best Wishes and many blessings!
